Abstract

The present invention provides a monitoring device (100, 200) for monitoring a mains connection of an electronic device (101, 201), the monitoring device (100, 200) comprising an AC signal processing unit (105, 205) configured to measure the voltage (106, 206) on the mains connection of the electronic device (101, 201) and to measure a noise (108, 208) on the mains connection of the electronic device (101, 201), an overvoltage detector (107, 207) configured to detect an overvoltage in the measured voltage (106, 206), a noise detection unit (109, 209) configured to detect abnormal noise (108, 208) on the mains connection, and a signaling unit (110, 210) configured to output a warning signal (111, 211) if the overvoltage detector (107, 207) detects an overvoltage and/or if the noise detection unit (109, 209) detects an abnormal noise (108, 208). The present invention further provides a respective monitoring method.
