Abstract

The present invention relates to a fluorescent compound for the detection of malignant melanoma, to a pharmaceutical composition containing said fluorescent compound, and to a method for the detection of malignant melanoma, wherein said pharmaceutical composition is applied on a cutaneous tissue which is suspected of containing malignant melanoma cells. The fluorescent compound according to the present invention is taken up by the malignant melanoma cells to a significantly higher extent compared to non-affected cells, e.g. healthy melanocytes, thus allowing the detection of malignant melanoma with both a high specificity and a high selectivity.
