Abstract

A power delivery system (10) and method for an induction cooktop (12) are provided herein. A plurality of inverters (A, B) are each configured to apply an output power (P A , P B ) to a plurality of induction coils (I 1 -I 4 ) electrically coupled thereto via corresponding relays (R 1 -R 4 ). A selected inverter (A, B) is operable to momentarily idle to enable commutation of a relay (R 1 -R 4 ) connected thereto. An active inverter (A, B) is operable to increase its output power (P A , P B ) for the duration in which the selected inverter (A, B) is idled in order to lessen power fluctuations experienced on a mains line (22).
