Abstract

A wheel and tire assembly (300) for a mobile vehicle, comprising a radially outer flexible ring (342) mounted to a radially inner central rim, and a spoke structure (310) extending radially between the inner central rim and the outer flexible ring (342), wherein the spoke structure (310) defines a plurality of closed cavities (311) and a plurality of radially extending openings or open cavities (312) disposed concentrically about the inner central rim and allowing the flexible ring (342) to deflect under load, the spoke structure (310) further has a plurality of at least substantially triangular cavities or openings (345) disposed at the outer flexible ring (342) and at least partially extending between the closed cavities (311) and the openings or open cavities (312).
