Abstract

The invention relates to a household appliance comprising a controller (40) to control the operation of the household appliance (100) in accordance with user selectable functions (50) and an input unit (30) providing input elements (31, 32, 33, 34) that are actuatable by a user of the household appliance (100), the input unit (30) being coupled to the controller (40). The household appliance (100) is operable in at least a main operating mode in which functions (50) of the household appliance are provided to a user for selection by actuation of an input element of the input unit, in a first access restricted operating mode and in a second access restricted operating mode. The controller (40) is configured to operate the household appliance (100) in the first access restricted operating mode upon receiving from the input unit (30) a user input that corresponds to the actuation of one or more input elements (31, 32, 33, 34) according to a first predetermined input sequence, and to operate the household appliance (100) in the second access restricted operating mode upon receiving from the input unit (30) a user input that corresponds to the actuation of one or more input elements (31, 32, 33, 34) according to a second predetermined input sequence, which is different from the first predetermined input sequence.
