Abstract

The present invention provides a communication system (100, 200, 300, 400) for communicating data, the communication system (100, 200, 300, 400) comprising a central data center (101, 201, 301, 401), the central data center (101, 201, 301, 401) comprising a first RF downlink data interface (102, 402) for transmitting the data, and a first visible-light based uplink data interface (104, 204, 404), and a number of remote data nodes (105, 106, 205, 305, 306, 321, 322, 405), each remote data node comprising a second RF downlink data interface (107, 108, 407) configured to receive RF signals (103, 403) from the first RF downlink interface and a second visible-light based uplink data interface (109, 110, 409) configured to send visible light signals (111, 112, 211, 411) to the first visible-light based uplink data interface (104, 204, 404).
