Abstract

A turbocharger can include a housing that includes an interior cavity (390) in fluid communication with a lubricant inlet (381) and a lubricant outlet (389) where, at a compressor side, the interior cavity (390) includes an effective opening (385) at a first axial face that spans an azimuthal angle about an axis of a through bore of the housing; a compressor side plate (800) disposed at least in part in a compressor side recess of the housing; and a lubricant deflector plate (700) disposed between the compressor side plate and the first axial face of the housing where the lubricant deflector plate (700) includes an effective opening (750) that substantially spans the azimuthal angle about the axis and where the lubricant deflector plate (700) defines a seal cavity (500) with respect to a compressor side seal recess (386) of the housing.
