Abstract
A rotor (100) includes a shaft (110). A plurality of rotor modules (120) are disposed about the shaft (110). Each of the rotor modules (120) includes a cylindrical support ring (240), a ferromagnetic core (230) radially outward of the support ring (240), at least one PM arc (210) arranged in a first ring (211a) and at least one PM arc (210) arranged in a second ring (211b), the first and second ring being radially outward of the ferromagnetic core (230), and a retainer (220) having a first wall (222) disposed radially outward of the first ring and the second ring and a second wall (224) defining an axial boundary between the first ring and the second ring.
