Abstract

A female connector (50) for use with different male coaxial connectors is provided. The female connector (50) has at least one outer contact (53, 54) for electrical connection with an outer contact (12, 32) of a male coaxial connector (10, 30). The female connector (50) has first and second inner female contacts (51, 52) for receiving the inner contact (11, 31) of a first male coaxial connector (10) and a second male coaxial connector (30) respectively. The first inner female contact (51) is located within the second inner female contact (52) for reciprocating movement within the second inner female contact (52). When a second male coaxial connector (30) is introduced into the female connector (50), the inner contact (31) of the second male coaxial connector (30) moves the first inner female contact (51) within the second inner female contact (52) to expose at least a portion of the second inner female contact (52) so that the inner contact (31) of the second male coaxial connector (30) makes electrical contact with the second inner female contact (52).
