Abstract

A method (200) of manufacturing the aerofoil (30), and an aerofoil (30). The method (200) includes: casting (202) a first body portion (56) having a passage (70) passing there-through; casting (204) a second body portion (58); and joining (206) the first body portion (56) and the second body portion (58) to form the aerofoil (30). The passage (70) extends from an opening (96) at a first end (72) at or near a leading edge (42) to an opening (100) at a second end (74) at or near a trailing edge (44). The passage (70) is formed during the casting process by a core (128); and the core (128) is supported at the first and second ends (72, 74) through the respective openings (96, 100) of the passage (70).
