Abstract
A coupling arrangement (34, 50) for a gas turbine engine (10) comprises first, second and third members (26, 33, 43). The first member (26) has a first threaded mating surface (37) extending in a first direction (X) and a flange (36) extending in a direction generally normal to the first direction (X). The second member (33) has a second threaded mating surface (42) extending in the first direction (X) and a flange (39) extending in a direction generally normal to the first direction (X), the flanges (36, 39) of the first and second members (26, 33) engaging against one another. The third member (43) has a third threaded mating surface (44) configured to engage against the first threaded mating surface (37), and a fourth threaded mating surface (45) configured to engage against the second threaded mating surface (42). The third and fourth threaded mating surfaces (44, 45) are oppositely handed. The third member (43) further comprises a flange (46) extending in a direction generally normal to the first direction (X) and is configured to engage against one of the first and second members (26, 33). A fastener (49) is provided, which is configured to extend between the flanges (36, 39, 46) such that torque between the first and third members (26, 43) in a first relative direction causes compression of the flanges (36, 39, 46), and torque in a second relative direction causes tension on the fastener (49), such that the fastener (49) will break to release the first member (26) from the second member (33) in the event that the torque in the second direction exceeds a predetermined amount.
