Abstract

A compound comprising:a ligand L_Aof Formula I wherein, R^Arepresents mono to the maximum allowable substitutions; X¹to X⁴are each independently CR or N; R^A, R, R¹, and R²are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or a substituent selected from the group consisting of deuterium, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carboxylic acid, ether, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof;at least one of R¹and R²has the formula of ---L¹-G¹; L¹is an organic linker or a direct bond, G¹is a substituted cycloalkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted multicyclic group; at least one R^Ais not hydrogen; L_Ais coordinated to Ir;Ir can be coordinated to other ligands; L_Acan be linked with other ligands to comprise a tridentate, tetradentate, pentadentate, or hexadentate ligand; and any two substituents can be joined or fused together to form a ring, with the proviso that R¹and R²are not joined to form a ring.
