Abstract

The application provides a method for operating a steam cooking appliance (10) having a food preparation cavity, a steam system comprising a steam generator and a water tank (20) for supplying water to the steam generator, and drive means for displacing the water tank between an operative position in which the water tank is inserted into the steam cooking appliance to supply water to the steam generator, and a non-operative position in which the water tank is at least partially expelled from the steam cooking appliance.The method comprises:Displacing the water tank (20) from the operative position to the non-operative position if it is detected that the steam system might require a refill with water.
