Abstract

A coffee grinding apparatus (10) includes a removable holder assembly (70) having first and second arms (82, 84) that are spaced-apart from one another to define an open receiving area (104) therebetween. The arms (82, 84) each include upper and lower tabs (96, 98 and 100, 102) that extend inwardly into the open receiving area (104) first and second distances (D1, D2), respectively. The first and second distances (D1, D2) of the upper and lower tabs (96, 98 and 100, 102) are configured to retain and support portafilter assemblies (130) of various sizes for filling with coffee grounds using the coffee grinder apparatus (10). Another holder assembly (70A) for use with the coffee grinding apparatus (10) may include opposed abutment surfaces (216, 225) for engaging inner and outer surfaces (140A, 140B) of a cup portion (132) of various sized portafilter assemblies (130). The holder assemblies (70, 70A) attach to a pedestal portion (16) of the coffee grinding apparatus (10) in use, and can be stored in a support base (14) of the coffee grinding apparatus (10) when not in use.
