Abstract
Method for determining the rotational position of a rotor (9) in a permanent magnet synchronous machine (7), wherein the stator (8) comprises windings (11 - 16) for a first, second and third phase (17, 18, 19), comprising the steps:- applying a first voltage pulse (29) to the first phase (17),- determining respective first measures for the current (30, 31) induced by the first voltage pulse (29) in the second and third phase (18, 19),- selecting a first selected phase depending on the first measures for the current (30, 31), wherein the first selected phase is either the second or the third phase (18, 19),- applying a second voltage pulse (40) to the first selected phase,- determining respective second measures for the current (33, 34) induced by the second voltage pulse (40) in the phases (17, 18, 19) of the stator (8) that are not the first selected phase, and- determining the rotational position of the rotor (9) depending on the second measures of the current (33, 34).
