Abstract

A measurement unit (1) for measuring a bio-impedance of a body (4), the measurement unit (1) comprising a current generator circuit (10), a readout circuit (20), and a baseline cancellation current circuit (40), wherein the current generator circuit (10) is configured to amplify a reference current (80) to form a measurement current (82) to be driven through a body (4) to generate a measurement voltage (84) representing the bio-impedance; wherein the readout circuit (20) comprises a Instrumentation amplifier (22) (IA) which has a transconductance stage (24) and a transimpedance stage (26), wherein the IA is configured to: produce a first current (86) in the transconductance stage (24), the first current (86) being proportional to the measurement voltage (84), receive a second current (88) from the baseline cancellation current circuit (40), produce an output voltage (94) in the transimpedance stage (26), the output voltage (94) being proportional to a difference between the first current (86) and the second current (88) and representative of the measured bio-impedance; wherein the baseline cancellation current circuit (40) is configured to amplify the reference current (80) by a factor (36) to form the second current (88) and deliver it to the IA, wherein the factor (36) is such that that the absolute value of the difference between the first (86) and the second current (88) is below a threshold (34) such that a baseline of the first current (86) is cancelled by the second current (88).
