Abstract

According to an aspect, there is provided an energy storage system (100) for an elevator car (200) of an elevator system, comprising an energy storage (102); an energy storage management system (104) connected to the energy storage (102) and configured to monitor a state of the energy storage (102). The energy storage management system (104) is configured to communicate directly with a charging arrangement (106) located in an elevator shaft (200) via a first communication channel to start and stop charging of the energy storage (102) via the charging arrangement (106). The energy storage management system (104) is further configured to communicate with an elevator controller (300) associated with the elevator car via a second communication channel.
