Abstract

A fuel system (62) for a gas turbine engine (20) includes a fuel pump (66) to provide fuel flow (75) during engine operation and a transmission system (82) that includes an output shaft (86) coupled to drive the fuel pump (66), and an input shaft (88) driven through a mechanical link (78) to a shaft (40, 50) of the gas turbine engine (20). The output shaft (88) drives the fuel pump (66) at a variable speed that is independent of a rotational speed of the input shaft (88).
