Abstract

The invention provides an agricultural baler (10) a rotatable input shaft, a flywheel (28) operatively connected to the shaft, and an operating component (38), such as a transmission, e.g. a mid-gearbox. The baler (10) also has a cooling circuit (120,220) that permits flow of operating fluid, e.g. oil, there through, where the fluid flows away from and back towards the operating component. The cooling circuit has a cooling section (122,222) that is positioned adjacent to the flywheel (28) so that rotation of the flywheel generates airflow across the cooling section to cool the operating fluid. The invention is advantageous in that it makes use of an airflow that is already generated by the flywheel as it rotates during normal operation of the baler to improve its cooling function.
