Abstract

A gas analysis system 110 has a sample loop for forming a gas sample, a precut column 118 for separating compounds of interest from compounds of no interest, having an inlet fluidly connected to the sample loop, and a main column 120 for separating each compound of interest, having an inlet fluidly connected to an outlet of the precut column 118. The gas analysis system also comprises a fluidic management system including a carrier gas supply 114 and valves 122,124,126. The carrier gas is able to flow in the precut column 118 in both directions, and the fluidic management includes a first line fluidly connecting the carrier gas supply 114 to the outlet of the precut column 118 and a second line connecting the carrier gas supply to the inlet of the main column 120. The valves are disposed in the first and second lines and enable or disable the fluid connection between the carrier gas supply 114 and the inlet of the main column 120 and the carrier gas supply and the outlet of the precut column 118.
