Abstract

Provided are a washing machine in which withdrawal of a drawer is restricted by a locking device during an operation of the washing machine, and a control method thereof. The washing machine according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a case of which one surface is open, a drawer installed within the case so as to slide towards the open surface of the case, and a locking device installed so as to restrict sliding of the drawer within the case, wherein the locking device includes a holder installed on an inner wall surface of the case, a lever installed in the drawer so as to be inserted into the holder, and an elastic member installed in a portion of the holder to which the lever is inserted, so as to come into close contact with the lever in a clearance between the holder and the lever.
