Abstract

An implantable medical device (1), comprises a control circuitry (11) and a communication circuitry (13) for communicating with another implantable medical device (2, 3). The communication circuitry (13) comprises a transmission unit (130) and a reception unit (131). The transmission unit (130), for establishing a communication link (L) with the other implantable medical device (2, 3), is configured to transmit a multiplicity of transmit communication signals (S1-S5), wherein each transmit communication signal (S1-S5) is associated with a dedicated sub-range (A1-A5) of a predefined frequency range. The reception unit (131) is configured to receive a response communication signal (R2-R4) in response to a transmit communication signal (S1-S5). The control circuitry (131) is configured to determine whether a response communication signal (R2-R4) in response to a transmit communication signal (S1-S5) associated with a dedicated sub-range (A1-A5) has been received, and to establish said communication link (L) based on said determination.
