Abstract

An ophthalmic lens is provided. The ophthalmic lens comprises a first optical surface, an opposing second optical surface and an edge surface connecting the first optical surface and the second optical surface, wherein the edge surface is planar. The ophthalmic lens further comprises a first layer disposed on the edge surface, wherein the first layer comprises a coating material effective to reduce a reflection caused by a profile of the edge surface, and wherein (a) the first layer defines a structural element for fastening the ophthalmic lens to an eyewear frame, or (b) the ophthalmic lens further comprises a second layer disposed on the first layer, wherein the second layer defines a structural element for fastening the ophthalmic lens to an eyewear frame. A method of manufacturing the ophthalmic lens and an eyewear comprising the ophthalmic lens are also provided.
