Abstract

A combustor with a centerline (38) is provided that includes a support structure (116) and a heat shield (118). The heat shield (118) extends circumferentially about and axially along the centerline (38). The heat shield (118) is configured from or otherwise includes ceramic material. The heat shield (118) is mounted to the support structure (116) by an interlocking joint connection (36). The interlocking joint connection (36) includes a projection (66) and a groove (50). The projection (66) is configured with the support structure (116) and includes a plurality of fingers (76) arranged along and projecting into the groove (50). The groove (50) is formed in the heat shield (118).
