Abstract
An electro-mechanical actuation motor (14) includes a housing comprising at least one housing portion (24), a series of stator windings (52) disposed inside the housing and at least a set of fins (26). The set of fins (26) is connected to and extends radially from an outer surface (44) of the housing portion (24). The housing portion (24) and the set of fins (26) are formed as a single monolithic piece of material via layer-by-layer additive manufacturing (3D-printing). Each fin (46) includes a first portion (48) and a second portion (50) and intersects to form a T-shaped fin (46). The first portion (48) is integrally formed with and attached to the outer surface (44) of the housing portion (26) at its first end. The second portion (50) is attached to and integrally formed with the opposite second end of the first portion (48).
