Abstract
Transport apparatus (1) for use in the transport of a heavy structure (P, 20, 21, 22, 23), which transport apparatus (1) comprises a shape-adjustable adapter (10) realised to adjust between an initial shape (S0) and a mating shape (S1); and an actuator (14, 15, 17, 18) configured to effect a change in shape of the shape-adjustable adapter into its initial shape to facilitate positioning of the adapter relative to the structure; and to effect a change in shape of the shape-adjustable adapter into its mating shape to engage the shape-adjustable adapter with a surface (201) of the structure. The invention further describes a method of securing a frustoconical structure during transport.
