Abstract

A method, a computer program and a lighting control device for controlling light output from at least one luminaire (120-k, 220-k), the lighting control device (110, 210-k) comprising: a lighting control logic for defining the manner of controlling light output from the at least one luminaire (120-k, 220-k), an adaptation means for adjusting the lighting control logic at least in part based on occupancy information received from an occupancy sensor (132, 232-k) configured to sense motion and/or presence of a person in a certain area. The adaptation means is configured to receive time information, determine an average switch-on time for a day based at least in part on the time of day the occupancy information starts to indicate presence of a person and determine an average duration of the day based at least in part on the duration between the time of day the occupancy information starts to indicate presence of a person and the time of day on which occupancy information no longer indicates presence of a person on that day. The lighting control device is configured to select between a first lighting mode and a second lighting mode to be used at a certain time interval based at least in part on the determined average duration of the day and/or the determined average switch-on time, wherein at least one of the following is different in the first lighting mode than in the second lighting mode: the light intensity level produced by the luminaire (120-k, 220-k), color of the light output by the luminaire (120-k, 220-k), color temperature of the light output by the luminaire (120-k, 220-k).
