Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a vehicle detection system (1) comprising a control unit (2), an environment detection system (3) that is adapted to detect objects (4, 5, 6; 17, 18) outside a vehicle (7), and a driver attentiveness detection system (8) that is adapted to detect eye gaze direction of a driver (9). The control unit (2) is adapted to acquire data regarding detected objects (4, 5, 6; 17, 18) from the environment detection system (3), and to acquire eye gaze direction data from the driver attentiveness detection system (8). The eye gaze direction data comprising an eye gaze direction vector. The control unit (2) is adapted to estimate to which extent a detected object (4) is occupying a driver's field of view (10) by means of a combination of the acquired data.
