Abstract
An electrical connector (100) comprises a housing (104) defining an outer surface (108), a wire cable (112) at least partially disposed in the housing (104), and a robotic installation feature (128) at least temporarily attached to or defined in the outer surface (108) of the housing (104), wherein the robotic installation feature (128) defines a slot (144, 220) that is configured to be interacted with by an end effector (136) of a robotic installer (132) during robotic installation of the electrical connector (100, 200) with a corresponding electrical connector. A method of robotic installation of the electrical connector (100, 200) comprises identifying the robotic installation feature (128, 216), inserting at least two members (140A) of the end effector (136, 224) into the slot (144, 220), expanding the at least two members (140A) of the end effector (136, 224) along at least one of two axes (152A) to thereby fix the at least two members (140A) therein and obtain movable control of the electrical connector (100, 200), and installing the electrical connector (100, 200) with the corresponding electrical connector (100, 200).
