Abstract

A process of the preparation of the salts of N,N'-disubstituted ethylenediamine-N,N'-diacetic acid derivatives of the formula (IA), by alkylation of N-substituted glycine derivative of the formula (II) with 1,2-dichloroethane; and a process the preparation of acid addition salts of the formula (IB), by acidification of the salt of the formula (IB) with a suitable acid; and the use of the salts of the formula (IA) and (IB) thus obtained in the preparation of iron(III) or zinc(II) chelates.
