Abstract
A retention mechanism for a surgical access assembly includes a first member having a first semi-circular body with first and second ends and a second member having a second semi-circular body with first and second ends. The first end of the first member defines a first recess and the second end of the first member includes a first male connector. The first end of the second member includes a second male connector configured to be received within the first recess and the second end of the second member defines a second recess configured to receive the first male connector. When the first male connector is received within the second recess and the second male connector is received within the first recess, the first and second members are configured to frictionally engage a cannula of the surgical access assembly.
