Abstract

A packaging apparatus (100) reducing the possibility that packages inconsistent with desired specifications is manufactured due to an optional device (50) being mistakenly set to an operative or inoperative setting. A bag-making and packaging apparatus (100) operates a bag-making and packaging unit to manufacture bags (B) containing articles inside (A), and a gas replacement device (50) can be optionally attached to the bag-making and packaging apparatus (100). The bag-making and packaging apparatus (100) includes an operation control unit (96a) controlling the operation of the bag-making and packaging unit (100), a first detection unit (96c) detecting whether or not the gas replacement device is attached to the bag-making and packaging apparatus (100), a second detection unit (96d) detecting whether a setting of the gas replacement device (50) is set to an operative or an inoperative setting, a notification unit (94, 97) issuing a notification of information relating to the gas replacement device (50), and a notification control unit (96b). The notification control unit (96b) makes the notification unit (94, 97) issuing a notification that the gas replacement device (50) is set to the inoperative setting when the first detection unit (96c) detects that the gas replacement device (50) is attached to the bag-making and packaging apparatus (100) and the second detection unit (96d) detects that the gas replacement device (50) is set to the inoperative setting before the operation of the bag-making and packaging unit (100) is started.
