Abstract

A method and system are provided for monitoring a bale shape. The method comprises receiving a series of bale images (210, 310) from a camera (40), identifying the bale (340) in the bale images (210, 310), determining at least one bale shape parameter of the identified bale, and providing an electronic signal representative of the bale shape parameter. The bale images (210, 310) comprise a view of at least an outlet (32) of a bale chamber (26) of an agricultural baler (10), of a bale (340) being ejected from the outlet (32), and of a field (320) travelled by the agricultural baler (10) during the ejection of the bale (340). The at least one bale shape parameter of the identified bale (340) is then determined based on at least one of the bale images (210, 310). The identifying of the bale (340) may, at least partly, be performed using trained neural networks and other artificial intelligence (Al) algorithms.
