Abstract

A control unit (101) for an appliance (100) is described, wherein the appliance (100) comprises a plurality of feet (203) for placing the appliance (100) on a worktop; and wherein the appliance (100) comprises a first scale sensor (202) at a first foot (203) of the plurality of feet (203). The control unit (101) is configured to determine a first scale sensor measurement signal (303) of the first scale sensor (202) at the first foot (203) of the appliance (100). The control unit (101) is further configured to analyze the first scale sensor measurement signal (303); and in dependence of the analyzing, perform a safety measure directed at preventing the appliance (100) from moving across the worktop and/or from falling-off of the worktop.
