Abstract

A ceramic composite material includes: a silicon nitride grain; and a silicon carbide grain, the silicon nitride grain includes 80% or more β-type silicon nitride, and in a cross section of the ceramic composite material, an average grain size of the silicon nitride grains is not less than 0.1 µm nor more than 10 µm. In the cross section, the silicon nitride grain having a grain size three times or more as large as the average grain size has an area proportion of 35% or less to all the silicon nitride grains.
