Abstract
The invention generally relates to a multistatic radar system (10) and a method for a spatially resolved detection of an object under test (24). The multistatic radar system (10) includes an at least two-dimensional multistatic array (20) of antenna elements (16, 18)having an at least partially shared coverage area (14). At least one data processing circuit (22) is coupled to the array (20). Analog and/or digital beamforming is performed thereby obtaining at least one image (26) of the object under test (24) at least partially being located within the shared coverage area (14). Processing the image (26) obtained is used to resolve at least one scattering center (28) of the object under test (24). A spatially resolved scattering center distribution (30) is determined based on the image (26) obtained.
