Abstract

The present invention refers to a system installed in a cross-border area between a public network (120) of a provider and a carriers carrier network (110) of a customer, the system comprises at least:- a smart optical network termination device, NT, (10) that sits on a site of the customer and implements a demarcation point between the customer network (110) and the provider network (120),- a monitoring unit, MU, (20) located at a point of presence, PoP, (122) of the provider network (120),wherein the smart optical NT (10) is configured to monitor a coupling of optical power by the customer into the provider network (120) and to interact with the MU (20) via at least one traffic analysis point, TAP, (31, 32) for connectivity validation from the PoP (122) to the demarcation point (10).The present invention also refers to a respective method.
