Abstract

The present disclosure refers to a battery module (12), comprising a plurality of first battery cell groups (15, 15.1, 15.2) and a plurality of second battery cell groups (16, 16.1, 16.2); wherein at least one of the first battery cell groups (15, 15.1, 15.2) is arranged adjacent to at least one of the second battery cell groups (16, 16.1, 16.2); wherein each of the first battery cell groups (15, 15.1, 15.2) and each of the second battery cell groups (16, 16.1, 16.2) comprises a plurality of stacked prismatic battery cells (20, 20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5, 20.6, 20.7); wherein the first battery cell groups (15, 15.1, 15.2) and second battery cell groups (16, 16.1, 16.2) are alternatingly stacked; and wherein the battery cells (20, 20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5, 20.6, 20.7) of the first battery cell group (15, 15.1, 15.2) are oriented orthogonally to the battery cells (20, 20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5, 20.6, 20.7) of the second battery cell group (16, 16.1, 16.2). The present disclosure also refers to a battery pack (10), an electric vehicle (300), and to a method for assembly of a battery module (12).
