Abstract

The invention relates to a method for establishing or defining a network-internal transmission functionality for providing, by means of a telecommunications network, a communication or connectivity service between a first location and at least a second location based on optical data transmission of a user-defined optical signal,wherein the telecommunications network comprises a backbone network and/or an aggregation network as well as an access network, and the telecommunications network and its infrastructure being used to both-- provide end-user communication services and/or IP connectivity to a multitude of end-users connected to the access network, and-- connect the first location and the at least second location by means of at least access network infrastructure and/or aggregation network infrastructure comprising a plurality of optical network nodes,wherein the telecommunications network comprises a network orchestrator entity or functionality connected to the plurality of optical network nodes, respectively, and comprising a plurality of pieces of transmission path information,wherein the first location is linked to the telecommunications network by means of at least one first optical data transmission fiber to an optical safety and policy entity or functionality, and wherein the second location is linked to the telecommunications network by means of at least one second optical data transmission fiber to a further optical safety and policy entity or functionality,wherein, in order to establish or to define the network-internal transmission functionality between, on the one hand, the optical safety and policy entity or functionality, and, on the other hand, the further optical safety and policy entity or functionality, the method comprises the following steps:-- in a first step, the establishment or definition of the network-internal transmission functionality is triggered,-- in a second step, the network-internal transmission functionality is established by causing the plurality of optical network nodes to apply at least one transmission path based on at least one piece of transmission path information.
