Abstract

A turbine blade (100) includes an aerofoil (102) including a leading edge (104), a trailing edge (106), a first sidewall (108), a second sidewall (112), and an internal cooling circuit (126) disposed within the aerofoil and configured to direct a cooling fluid within the aerofoil. The turbine blade includes at least one first recessed portion (130) formed on the first sidewall proximal to a tip (116) of the turbine blade. The first recessed portion (130) is disposed proximal to and spaced apart from the trailing edge of the aerofoil. The first recessed portion includes a base surface (140) inboard of a pressure surface (110), a first surface (142) extending from the base surface to the pressure surface and radially towards the tip, and inclined obliquely to a tip plane (120), and a second surface (144) extending from the base surface to the pressure surface and from the first surface towards the trailing edge, and inclined relative to the first surface. The first recessed portion further includes at least one slot (160) extending from the first surface to the internal cooling circuit and configured to allow a flow of the cooling fluid from the internal cooling circuit to the first recessed portion.
