Abstract

The present invention relates to novel bodipy compounds comprising the combination of carbazole moieties and five membered aromatic ring-based heteroaryl moieties, and more particularly the combination of carbazole moieties and thiophene-based heteroaryl moities, said bodipy compounds displaying absorption and emission in the NIR region, to a method for preparing said bodipy compounds, and to the use of said BODIPY compounds as fluorescent dyes in various applications.
