Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and a system for rearing insects, with the steps of breeding insects in a breed crate, such that the breed crate comprises live insects, substrate and insect eggs, emptying the breed crate for sorting its content by separating the live insects and collecting a mixture of the substrate mixed with said insect eggs, and rebatching the collected egg/substrate mixture to a breed crate for further hatching the eggs in the mixture and rearing the emerging neonates.
