Abstract

A pressure regulating valve (10) includes an inlet (32), an outlet (34), an internal cavity (50), a first regulating window (52), and a second regulating window (54). Pressurized fluid enters the valve through the inlet at a first pressure, the fluid flows through the first regulating window into and through the internal cavity, and then the fluid flows out through the outlet at a second pressure which is lower than the first pressure. The second regulating window of the valve adds a leakage network that prevents pressure spikes within the valve. Further, the second regulating window is only utilized when the fluid pressure within the valve reaches a pressure limit, aiding in maintaining the desired regulated pressure.
