Abstract

A thermoplastic component assembly (10) comprises first and second thermoplastic components (12, 14) which are welded together, the first thermoplastic component (12) comprising a visualisation agent (18) configured to operate as visual contrast under lighting conditions to identify a boundary or interface (16) between the first and second thermoplastic components.The visualisation agent (18) may be a pigment and/or fluorescent, and may provide a bright reflection under ultraviolet light. The thermoplastic components may be multilayered fibre-reinforced composites.An associated method relates to visualisation of the welded components (12, 14) under a light source. Preferably, part of the assembly is cut away beforehand to expose a surface facilitating observation.
