Abstract

A medical imaging system (100) comprising an image data collection apparatus (102) which is configured to collect a first image readout (IR₁) from an object (212) and a second image readout (IR₂) from the object (212), the first image readout (IR₁) representing back-scattered ight and light specular reflections collected from the object (212) and the second image readout (IR₂) representing back-scattered light collected from the object (212), the imaging system further comprising a processor (426) which is configured to process the first image readout IR₁ and second image readout (IR₂) to generate a first image data set (ID₁) which represents light specular reflection image of the object (212), to use the second image readout (IR₂) to generate a second image data set (ID₂) which represents a back-scattered light image of the object (212), and to combine the first first image data set (ID₁) with the second image data set (ID₂) to create an enhanced image data set (ID_e) representing an enhanced light image of the object (212).
