Abstract

The invention refers to a medical device suitable for disinfecting a volume of a hospital indoor environment contaminated with germs, comprising a portable activation panel, coated with a film of titanium dioxide TiO₂ nanoparticles, acting as photocatalyst, one irradiating lamp L comprising at least one LED placed at adjustable activation distance from the portable activation panel, and an electronic control unit. A first ratio is defined between an area of the portable activation panel and the volume of said hospital indoor environment, in the range of 1:20 - 1:30; a second ratio is defined as the power of said irradiating lamp transferred per unit area of the portable activation panel PAN, in the range of 16.5 - 19.5 W/m². Based on said volume, on the minimum number of activation hours, on the first ratio and on the second ratio, the electronic control unit is arranged to compute the area of the portable activation panel, the adjustable activation distance, the power of the irradiating lamp and to send power on and power off instructions to the irradiating lamp for each activation period.The invention further refers to a computer-implemented method of configuration and operation of the medical device of the invention carried out by the electronic control unit.
