Abstract
A method of and system for inspecting a sealed compartment (36) within a gas turbine engine (10) is provided. The method includes using at least one acoustic transmitter (32) to produce at least one emitted acoustic signal into a compartment interior cavity (48). The acoustic transmitter (32) is in communication with the at least one port (52). The array (130) of acoustic sensors (30) is used to sense acoustic signals. The acoustic sensors (30) are disposed in proximity to the seal (50) outside of the interior cavity (48) of the sealed compartment (36). Each acoustic sensor (30) is configured to sense emitted acoustic signals produced by the acoustic transmitter (32) and to produce signal data representative of sensed acoustic signals. The presence or absence of a compromised region (54) of the seal (50) is determined using the signal data from at least one of the acoustic sensors (30) of the array (130) of acoustic sensors (30).
