Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a tinted ophthalmic lens comprising a lens substrate and comprising one or more dyes, which may be of biological origin, chosen from anthraquinone dyes comprising at least two hydroxyl groups, naphthoquinone dyes comprising at least two hydroxyl groups, and mixtures thereof. The present disclosure relates to a method of tinting an ophthalmic lens comprising the following steps:Providing an ophthalmic lens,Providing a tinting solution comprising water as a solvent and one or more dyes dissolved therein chosen from anthraquinone dyes comprising at least two hydroxyl groups, naphthoquinone dyes comprising at least two hydroxyl groups, and mixtures thereof, said dyes may in particular be provided as a plant extract,Dipping at least a portion of the ophthalmic lens, for example the whole ophthalmic lens, into the tinting solution to tint the ophthalmic lens, andRecovering the tinted ophthalmic lens.
