Abstract

A device for flaring thermoplastic pipes comprises curved side plates (1) capable of forming a hollow cylinder, said curved side plates provided with one or more side forks (4), a central shaft (2) provided with at least two central forks (3) at different length positions, a plurality of connecting linkages (5) pivotally connecting the side forks (4) with the central forks (3), and a connecting star (6) having a bore through which the central shaft is slidable, the connecting star (6) having an arm for each curved slide plate which emerges through a slot therein. The arms guide movement of the curved side plates (1) and allow a pipe end to abut against them.Axial displacement of the central shaft (2) causes radial opening and closing of the curved side plates (1), the device changing between a larger diameter and a smaller diameter.
