Abstract

Various embodiments of this document relate to a vehicle and a method of operating the vehicle for performing a minimal risk maneuver. An autonomous driving vehicle may determine whether a minimal risk maneuver is necessary based on at least one of the surrounding environment information and vehicle state information, determine a minimal risk maneuver type and a target location for the vehicle to stop when the minimal risk maneuver is necessary, and control the vehicle such that the vehicle stops at the target location based on the determined minimal risk maneuver type and the target location, during autonomous driving of the vehicle.
